Belden Releases New Field-Wiring Terminals for Industrial Power Redundancy and Safety

GarrettCom Power Clip provides efficient and cost-effective redundant power for uptime and safety of critical industrial components

31.05.18

St. Louis, Missouri – May 10, 2018 – Belden, Inc., a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications, has released its new GarrettCom Power Clip, a field-wiring terminal designed to provide simple, cost-effective redundant power in order to maintain high network availability for both legacy equipment and new installations.

“Equipment in mission-critical networks often relies on a single power source, which puts operational uptime at risk if that single source fails. Now, there is a simple and cost-effective way to provide redundant back-up power and electrical safety for critical equipment and also ensure continuous operation,” said Divij Agarwal, product manager at Belden. “With our GarrettCom Power Clip, you can provide dual power supplies to up to four devices. And when the Power Clip automatically senses a failure, it will instantly switch to the secondary, independent power input – keeping equipment running while testing and repairs are performed.”

Ideal for environments where high network availability is required, such as telecommunications, utilities and industrial automation, the Power Clip offers peace-of-mind in instances of power failure. Additional features and benefits include:

  • Provides redundant inputs to Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches that power critical equipment to ensure continuous operation
  • Operates in harsh environments, including extreme temperature ranges, to ensure longer life and provide resistance against dirt, dust and other contaminants
  • Offers the highest number of power outputs in a single unit with a dual-input, quad-output construction for space-constrained spaces

The Power Clip has been rigorously tested and complies with numerous industry standards, including safety, emissions, shock and vibration, and industry-specific testing. Plus, it’s approved for substation (IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613) usage along with other industrial deployments, such as traffic systems, railways, military, hazardous locations, and oil and gas.
